ISLAMIC LEARNING |
The challenges brought about by globalisation and modernisation have continued to affect our community. A good understanding and practice of Islam will help the community cope with such challenges and ride the waves of modernisation and globalisation. Hence, we must ensure that an appropriate system of Islamic Learning is in place. The role of mosques in strengthening Muslims spiritually and intellectually cannot be further emphasised. Our mosques have played, and will continue to play, a central role in the socio-religious development of a Muslim. In the Singapore context, mosques have significantly contributed to the Islamic learning needs of Muslims. This is evident in the wide range of Islamic learning programmes that one will find organised in our mosques. However, we need to re-look, review and re-evaluate the current state of Islamic learning, and its relevance and effectiveness in meeting the ever-changing needs of the community that is living in a modern and secular state. Strategy 2: Forge the Singaporean Muslim Identity through our Mosques Recommendations:
