Kampung Siglap Mosque Family Development Centre (FDC)


FDC - CORE PROGRAMMES
(Developmental Programme for Disadvantaged Families)

This project has been developed to create a more holistic assistance scheme, where MKS Family Development Centre will extend its assistance to the Disadvantaged Families enlisted with Kampung Siglap Mosque. The recipients living in the Marine Parade, Siglap, Chai Chee and Bedok South & New Upper Changi Road vicinity, by offering developmental programmes for them and their children, besides the food rations. It aims to conduct relevant courses and programmes that focus on better spiritual understanding and practice. It also provides an avenue to assist participants in searching for opportunities to elevate their economic status.

Hidayah Project Activities

Religious Class (Fardhu Ain)

We recognized the need and importance for the adults of these families to be given the opportunity to develop themselves and to be educate with more detailed aspects of Islamic Law accordance to AlQuran and Sunnah. The programmes are targeted at those who are lack of Basic Religious Knowledge and interested to learn more about Islam.  

Classes are conducted on every Wednesday from 1430hrs- 1630hrs. Topics covered on Fiqh, Tauhid and Iqra. Modules of subjects will be of 2 hours – consist of 1hour for lecture while 20 mins for questions and answers or group discussion. While the Iqra class will focus on 40 mins practicum.  

Support Group for Parents

The disadvantaged families are unable to move beyond their long history of problems. They are also unable to meet basic household expenses and are troubled by problems such as death of the spouse, divorced cases, the imprisonment of the breadwinner, poor health, drug abuse and family violence.

FDC would like to co-ordinate and upgrade the welfare assistance scheme for disadvantaged families to enable them to break out of the poverty cycle. It also enhance life skills development training/programmes covered self and social interaction through the Support Groups Programmes. 

The Support Groups are held once a month. Each session lasts two hours. Our dedicated FDC Volunteer Counsellor is assigned to facilitate the groups.

Outreach & Befriending Programmes

The programme is an attempt to reach out to the FDC disadvantaged families through Befriending Services. Our volunteers play an active role assist FDC in running the support group and religious classes. Home visits are made by volunteers to send out food rations as well to befriend the beneficiaries and encourage them to participate in our mosque activities.
